The Cubs and younger Scouts had an amazing 4 days camping on the site of the very first experimental camp by Baden-Powell and 20 boys in 1907.
Arriving in Poole by minibus (because of the train strike!) on the Saturday 22nd July we transferred a ton of kit plus 27 young people and 9 adults onto the little yellow ferry which transferred us to the island. It was then a mile hike to the campsite where we set up the tents just as the rain started. That night was torrential rain and 50mph winds but we survived as did all the tents.
Sunday was clear blue skies and sunshine. A chance to dry out all the wet clothes.
More to follow.
